What 9C7 means
Samsung washers sold in the US can show 9C7, which the brand names a Hardware Overcurrent Error. The control detected more electrical current than it allows in the motor drive circuit, and it stops the cycle to protect itself. You will see 9C7 on the display, often when the drum starts or spins. A stalled drum from a heavy load or a trapped item can add to it.
Common causes of 9C7
- Motor drive circuit drawing too much current
- Drum stalled by an overloaded or wedged load
- Motor winding or wiring
- Main board driver
1. Switch it off and let it rest for two to three minutes. 2. Open the door or lid and remove part of a heavy load. 3. Make sure nothing is stuck between the drum and the tub. 4. Turn the washer on and restart a short cycle. 5. If 9C7 returns, call us.
- After a lighter load, we cannot tell whether the motor, the wiring or the driver board is behind the overcurrent.
- We test the motor circuit and drum movement before recommending a part.
- The estimate is written and approved before any motor work, and the repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty.

Can an overloaded washer cause 9C7?
Yes. A heavy or soaked load makes the motor work harder and can raise the current. Try a smaller load first. Remove half the load, balance the rest and run a short cycle to see whether the code stays away.
Is it safe to keep trying?
Once, after a restart. Repeated tries with an overcurrent error can stress the circuit, so stop if it returns. Give it a rest of a few minutes between tries, and never reset the breaker again and again.
What do you check on a 9C7 call?
We turn the drum by hand, test the motor and wiring, then the driver board, and give you a written price first. Anything that points to a mechanical stall is separated from an electrical cause before any part is quoted.
Still seeing 9C7?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
