What Tap Cold / Cool / Medium / Mid means
Samsung washers without a digital display signal an overflow error by blinking the Tap Cold, Cool, Medium, or Mid light. The control detects too much water in the washer and stops the cycle. This follows the overflow group on numeric displays. The tub may hold more water than it should. Water may be standing higher than normal, and the washer may try to drain it.
Common causes of Tap Cold / Cool / Medium / Mid
- Water level sensing reading high
- Inlet valve not closing fully
- Drain restriction
- Level sensor hose or connection
1. Turn the washer off and close both water supply valves. 2. Check the drain hose for kinks or clogs. 3. Turn the washer on and let it drain. 4. If water stays or the light returns, stop using the washer and request service.
- A tub that drains normally but still blinks points to the level sensor or the inlet valve.
- We test the sensor and the inlet valve shutoff.
- If water reached the floor or cabinet, keep the washer unplugged until inspected.
Other Washer codes
Which light blinks for overflow?
Tap Cold, Cool, Medium, or Mid, depending on your model. Your model's panel markings show the exact name, and the pattern means too much water was detected in the washer.
Should I shut the water off?
Yes. Closing the supply valves stops more water while you check the drain. Then check the drain hose for kinks and let the tub empty. If water reached the floor, keep the washer unplugged.
Is a flood possible?
If the inlet valve does not close, yes. Treat the light seriously and close the valves. Keep the washer unplugged if water reached the floor, and tell us so we inspect the inlet valve and level sensing.
