What Hot / Hot & Extra Large / Hot & Extra High / Hot & Large / Hot & High means
On Samsung washers without a digital display, a blinking Hot light, alone or together with the Extra Large, Extra High, Large, or High level light, is the pattern for a door error. The control does not detect the door as closed and locked, and the cycle will not start or stops. This matches the door group on washers with a numeric display. The door can look shut and still fail to register.
Common causes of Hot / Hot & Extra Large / Hot & Extra High / Hot & Large / Hot & High
- Door latch and strike alignment
- Something caught in the door seal

1. Open the door, check nothing is caught in the seal or latch area, and close it firmly until it clicks. 2. Restart the cycle. 3. If Child Lock is on and water is in the tub, wait about 30 seconds for it to drain. 4. If the latch looks damaged or the lights return, request service.

Why does Hot blink when my door is shut?
The control needs the door both closed and locked. A latch that does not fully catch gives this pattern. Pressing the door firmly until it clicks and looking for lint in the seal can clear it.
Do the level lights matter?
The pair varies by model, but the Hot light with or without a level light points to the door error group. If you tell us the exact lights you see, we can match them to the door group for your model.
Can I force the door?
No. Forcing it can damage the latch. Open it, clear the seal, and close it firmly instead. A bent strike turns a simple clearing job into a repair visit.
