What UE / Ub / dc means
Samsung washers with a digital display, front-load and top-load, show UE, Ub, U6, Ur, or dc when the load is unbalanced. In the same group, Ur means the washer is retrying by adding water, which is normal. On some models dc is a door error instead, so a closed door that is still flagged needs the door checks. The drum may shake, and the washer may stop spinning or retry.
Common causes of UE / Ub / dc
- Laundry bunched on one side
- Single heavy item such as a rug
- Washer not level on the floor
- Drum movement and suspension wear
1. Open the door and untangle or spread out the laundry. 2. Add or remove items so the load is mixed in size. 3. Close the door and restart the cycle. 4. If it continues after redistributing, check the Washer won't spin guidance or request service.
- If the code appears with a small, evenly spread load, the cause is not the laundry.
- We check that the washer is level and test the drum's movement.
- We confirm whether dc on your model is a door or a balance error.
Other Washer codes
What does Ur mean?
Ur is an unbalanced load retry. The washer adds water and tries again, which is a normal part of how it fixes an uneven load.
Can a rug cause UE?
Yes. A single heavy item can bunch to one side. Washing it with a few other items usually balances it. Adding a couple of towels of different sizes often helps spread the weight.
Why does dc sometimes mean the door?
On some models dc is a door error rather than an unbalanced load. If the load is even and the code stays, the door checks come next.
