What SF / 5F / Sr means

Samsung washers with a digital display, front-load and top-load, show SF, 5F, SF1 to SF3, or 1 SF for a system error, and Sr or 5r for a system relay error. The WD53DBA900H lists SF as a micro controller operation failure. Both point to the main control rather than to water, drain, or the drum. The washer usually stops with the code showing and may not respond to buttons.

What is the difference between SF and Sr?

SF and its variants are a system error, where the main controller did not operate correctly. Sr and 5r are a system relay error, which points to the relay output on the board.

Is 5F the same as SF?

Yes. The display can show the letter S as a 5, so 5F and SF mean the same system error. Either spelling points to the main control, so reading the whole code on the display helps us.

Will unplugging the washer help?
