What AC5 / AE5 means
On Samsung WF45-series front-load washers, AC5 or AE5 means the LCD display module has stopped communicating with the main control board. Models that use this table include the WF45M5500A and WF455ARGSGR/A2. The panel may show the code or look unresponsive, and the cycle can stop. The water, drain, and drum circuits are not what this code points to; it is about the link between the front panel and the main board.
Common causes of AC5 / AE5
- Display module cable and connector
- Wiring between the panel and the main board
- Display module board itself
- Main board communication circuit
1. Switch the washer off and give it a couple of minutes. 2. Switch it on and see whether the panel responds. 3. Dry the panel with a cloth if it is damp, and keep spray cleaners away from the buttons. 4. If AC5 or AE5 returns, book a visit and leave the panel closed.
- A blank or slow panel can come from the module or from the link, and we cannot tell which from outside.
- We check the display connector and cable, then test the module's response.
- You get a written price before any display or board work.
Other Washer codes
Why does the panel look dead with AC5?
The display module and the main board are no longer exchanging data, so the panel may freeze or go dark. The washer's other circuits can still be intact.
Could moisture on the panel cause it?
Damp on the front panel is worth wiping dry, since it can upset the buttons. If AC5 returns after drying, the module link is the next thing we test.
Is it safe to keep trying cycles?
One or two restarts are fine. If the code keeps coming back, stop and let us check the link, since repeated attempts will not fix a loose connection.
