What 8E / 8C / BE / BC means

Samsung washers with a digital display, front-load and top-load, can show 8E, 8E1, 8E2, BE, BE1, BE2, 8C, BC, 8C1, 8C2, BC1 or BC2. The brand calls this a Mems sensor error, and on some models a vibration sensor error. The motion sensor on the main board reports excess vibration or a reading out of range. A Bespoke AI model such as the WD53DBA900H shows 8C, 8C1 and 8C2 for the same cause. You will see the code and the cycle stops.

Common causes of 8E / 8C / BE / BC

  • Washer shaking hard from an unlevel floor or loose feet
  • Motion sensor reading out of range
  • Main board
  • Load unbalanced during spin
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Stop the washer, power it off and wait two to three minutes. 2. Check that it sits level and does not touch a wall. 3. Redistribute a bunched load. 4. Turn it on and restart a cycle. 5. If the code returns, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • After a restart, we cannot tell whether vibration or the sensor itself caused the code.
  • We check the install, the drum movement and the sensor reading before recommending a board.
  • We put the repair price in writing first and cover our workmanship for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
8E / 8C / BE / BC8E / 8C / BE / BC questions
What is a Mems sensor?

It is a small motion sensor on the control board that measures movement. It reports an error when vibration is too high or the reading is out of range.

Do all the variations mean the same thing?

They belong to the same sensor family. The extra digit marks a variation, and we read the exact one when we diagnose the washer. A photo of the display helps us read it correctly, especially when the code has a leading digit.

Can leveling really stop it?

Sometimes. A rocking washer shakes the sensor. If leveling and balance do not help, we test the sensor. Do not move the washer alone, because it is heavy and the drum may still hold water.
