What tC means

On the Samsung WD53DBA900H-series Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, such as the WD53DBA900HZA1, tC means the duct thermistor and the discharge thermistor are reading a resistance above the allowed range. Both sensors sit in the drying airflow. A blocked case filter can contribute. You will see tC on the display, and the drying function stops while washing may still be possible.

Common causes of tC

  • Case filter packed with lint
  • Duct thermistor reading out of range
  • Discharge thermistor reading out of range
  • Wiring or connector at the sensors
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the unit off and let it cool. 2. Clean the case filter and the lint filter, taking care with any hot surfaces. 3. Check the area around the unit for airflow. 4. Start a drying cycle again. 5. Do not open any panel to reach the sensors. Call us if tC returns.

! Why to stop there
  • After cleaning the filter, we still cannot say whether a sensor, its connector or the board reads wrongly.
  • We test both thermistors and their wiring before recommending a part.
  • A written price comes before any sensor work, and we warrant the workmanship for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
tCtC questions
Why does the filter matter for tC?

A clogged filter changes airflow and temperature in the drying path, which can push sensor readings outside range. Cleaning it is the first step. A lint-free filter keeps airflow even, so clean it after every drying cycle.

Can I keep washing with tC?

Often yes, since the code concerns the dryer sensors. Avoid drying until the code is cleared and we have looked at it. Washing alone does not rely on those sensors, so a wash-only load is a reasonable stopgap.

Is tC the same as TC1?

No. tC concerns the dryer duct and discharge sensors. TC1 concerns the washing heater sensor in the tub. The letters look alike, so read the case of each character on the display with care before you describe it to us.
