What NC means
NC appears on the Samsung WD90F27 series and WD90F53AVS Laundry Combo when the control does not detect the filter in place. The message asks you to check that the filter is inserted correctly. The unit will not continue with a drying or condenser function until the filter sits where it belongs. You will see NC on the display and the cycle waits.
Common causes of NC
- Filter not pushed fully into its slot
- Filter inserted the wrong way round
- Lint or debris stopping the filter from seating
- Filter detection switch
1. Turn the unit off. 2. Take out the filter and clean off any lint under running water, then let it drain. 3. Slide the filter back in until it seats fully. 4. Tap Start. If NC stays, power off, wait two to three minutes and turn on again. 5. Check that nothing is blocking the filter slot.
- If the filter is fully seated and NC stays, we cannot tell whether the detection switch or its wiring is the cause.
- We check the filter seat and the sensing circuit before suggesting a part.
- Should a part be needed, you approve a written price first, and our workmanship is warranted for 30 days.

Why does NC show when the filter is in?
It may not be fully seated, or lint may hold it slightly out of place. Remove it, clean it, and push it in until it stops.
Does NC affect washing?
It mostly affects functions that rely on the filter, such as drying. Seat the filter and tap Start to see whether the cycle goes on. If the wash side still runs, finish the load by hand drying until NC is cleared.
Is a warped filter a problem?
It can be. A bent frame will not seat well. If the filter looks damaged or NC persists, we inspect the slot and sensor. Do not bend it back by force, because a cracked frame will not seat and the sensor will keep reporting the filter as missing.
Still unsure about NC?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
