What dn means

Samsung washers with a digital display and software updates, front-load and top-load, show dn while the washer downloads an update. During that time the controls do not respond, and the download takes about 15 minutes. Keep the washer powered on until it finishes. It is a normal process and not a problem, so nothing is wrong with the washer itself while dn is on the display.

Common causes of dn

  • Update download in progress
  • Wi-Fi connection interrupted during the download
  • Power interrupted during the update
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Leave the washer powered on and do not press buttons. 2. Wait about 15 minutes for the download to finish. 3. Check that your Wi-Fi is working and the power stays connected. 4. If dn is still on the display after 30 minutes with continuous power and working Wi-Fi, request service.

! Why to stop there
  • After 30 minutes of power and Wi-Fi, a stuck dn means the update did not complete.
  • We check the control and the Wi-Fi link to the washer.
  • We do not interrupt the update ourselves unless the check shows it is needed.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

dndn questions
Is dn a problem?

No. It means the washer is downloading an update, and the controls ignore you until it finishes. It is expected to take about 15 minutes.

Can I use the washer while dn shows?

No. The buttons do not respond during the download. Leave it powered on and wait. Pressing buttons will not speed it up or cancel it, and powering off mid-update is best avoided.

What if dn never goes away?

If it is still showing after 30 minutes with power on and your Wi-Fi working, book a visit and we will check why the update did not finish.
