What 9C6 means

Samsung washers sold in the US can show 9C6, which the brand names a High Temperature Circuit Error. The washer's control detected an unusually high temperature reading in its electronic circuit. It stops the cycle to protect itself. You will see 9C6 on the display and the washer will not carry on until the circuit cools or is checked. It is not a water, door or load code.

Common causes of 9C6

  • Overheated circuit on the control or motor driver
  • Poor ventilation around the washer
  • Wiring or connector at the temperature sensing
  • Main board
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Power down the washer and let it cool for two to three minutes. 2. Turn it on and restart the cycle. 3. Check that the washer has space around it and is not boxed in. 4. Do not open any panel or touch wiring. 5. If 9C6 returns, call us.

! Why to stop there
  • After cooling, we cannot tell from the display whether the sensing or the circuit is behind the high reading.
  • We test the temperature sensing and the driver circuit before recommending a part.
  • We price the repair in writing before we start, and we warrant the workmanship for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
9C69C6 questions
Is 9C6 a heater problem?

Not necessarily. It concerns a high temperature reading in the control circuit, not the water heater. We find out which part is hot when we test it.

Can I run the washer again straight away?

Give it two to three minutes off and try once. If 9C6 returns, stop and call us. Do not keep restarting it, because each try adds heat to a circuit that already reported too much.

Does crowded installation matter?

Space around the washer helps heat escape. Move anything blocking it, but we still inspect if the code returns. Keeping vents and the back of the washer clear is simple, but a real repeat means the circuit needs testing by us.
