What 9C1 / PF / 2E means
Samsung washers with a digital display, front-load and top-load, show 9C1, 9C2, PF, 2E, 9E1, 9E2, UC, 19C1 or 19C2 as a voltage error: there is an irregularity in the electrical current. PF, for Power Failure, can also appear after an outage, an unplug or a tripped breaker, and a washer used outside its country of origin may show it. On some models 3E is a motor error instead. You will see the code and the washer stops.
Common causes of 9C1 / PF / 2E
- Supply voltage outside the normal range
- Outlet or extension cord causing a drop
- Washer sharing a circuit with other appliances
- Breaker that tripped
- Main board input
1. Turn the washer off. 2. Plug it into its own circuit, directly into the wall with no extension cord. 3. Check that the plug is seated and not warm or discolored. 4. If the breaker tripped, leave it off and call us. 5. Turn the washer on and restart the cycle.
- We cannot see the incoming voltage from the display, so we check the outlet and the circuit.
- If the supply is steady, we test the washer's own power circuit before recommending a part.
- Whatever the cause, the written price comes first, and the repair is warranted for 30 days.
Other Washer codes
Does PF always mean a problem?
No. PF also shows after an outage, an unplug or a tripped breaker. Restart the washer and see if it returns. If it does return, check the outlet and the cord before anything else.
Why not use an extension cord?
A washer draws a lot of power, and a cord can cause a voltage drop. A direct wall outlet gives the stable supply the control needs.
Is a tripped breaker dangerous?
It can point to an electrical problem. Do not keep resetting it. Call us so we can check the washer and the circuit. Keep the breaker off if it trips again right away, because repeated resets can heat the wiring.
