What 1C / 1E / LC / LE means
Samsung washers with a digital display, front-load and top-load, can show 1C, 1E, LC or LE, which also appear as LC1, 1 1C and 1 LC. The washer reports a water level or leakage error: moisture is detected where it does not belong, or the level sensor itself is not reading properly. A punctured, clogged or folded sensor hose or a loose terminal can cause the same display. You will see the code and the cycle stops.
Common causes of 1C / 1E / LC / LE
- Small leak at a hose or connection
- Sensor hose pinched, clogged or folded
- Terminal at the level sensor loose
- Too much or non-HE detergent making suds
- Main board
1. Turn the washer off and look for any leak, even a tiny one, at the supply hoses and the drain hose. 2. Check that the supply and drain hoses are not kinked. 3. Do not remove the screw on the back that holds the drain hose. 4. Run an empty cycle with no additives and watch for suds. 5. If the code returns, call us.
- A dry floor does not rule out a sensor problem, so the code stays unexplained until we test the level circuit.
- We trace the sensor hose, the terminal and the leak path before recommending a part.
- Our price is written down and approved before work starts, and the repair is covered for 30 days.
Other Washer codes
Are 1C and 1E the same as LC and LE?
They share one family: a water level or leakage error. Which letters you see depends on the model, and we treat them the same way. If you are unsure which family your code belongs to, send us a photo of the display.
Why would too much detergent cause this?
Suds can fool the water level reading. Running an empty cycle with no additives shows whether foam is the cause. Use a detergent labeled HE if your washer is front-load, and measure it carefully each time.
Can I keep using the washer?
Not if you find water. Turn it off and keep it unplugged until it has been inspected. Water on the floor and a live outlet are a poor combination, so unplug first and mop second.
