What TE means
TE appears on Samsung microwaves in the US when the touch panel and the main control stop communicating properly. The brand-wide table calls it a touch communication error. The owner sees TE on the display, and the touch pad may respond slowly, randomly or not at all. Moisture on the panel is a known reason for this message, as is a brief power disturbance that leaves the panel and control out of step.
Common causes of TE
- Moisture on or behind the touch panel
- Touch panel link to the main control
- Control board that did not restart cleanly after a power event
- Panel connector contact
1. Unplug the microwave or switch off the breaker. 2. If moisture may have gotten in, let the unit dry fully before doing anything else. 3. Otherwise wait 60 seconds. 4. Power it back on. 5. Wipe the panel with a barely damp cloth only, and keep liquids away from it. If TE returns, stop using the microwave.
- A TE that comes back after a dry restart tells us the link itself needs testing
- We check the panel connection and the control input to see which end stopped answering
- Expect the price on paper before we begin, with 30 days of workmanship coverage afterward
Other Microwave codes
Does TE mean the whole microwave is dead?
Not necessarily. It means the touch panel and the control are not talking correctly. Heating parts may be fine, but the oven cannot be operated reliably until the link is restored.
Why would a power flicker cause TE?
A brief outage can leave the panel and control out of step. A full power-off for 60 seconds lets both restart together, and that often clears it.
Should I press the pad repeatedly?
No. Repeated pressing will not help and can confuse the control. Restart the unit as described, and if TE returns, let us test the panel.
Still seeing TE?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
