What E-44 means

E-44 on a Samsung US microwave means the easy or PH sensor reported a dry up condition. In plain terms, the oven read the cavity as dried out or empty during an automatic program, which does not fit a cook that should have food in it. The program stops and the code appears, usually with food that is barely warm.

Common causes of E-44

  • A cavity that reads as dry because the load is empty or very small
  • A sensor circuit not reporting normally
  • Food that finished cooking far faster than the program expected
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Make sure food is actually in the oven, since an empty run can produce this code. 2. Disconnect power, plug or breaker, and let moisture dry. 3. Restore power after 60 seconds. 4. Start the automatic program again with a normal portion. 5. Seeing E-44 a second time? Request service.

! Why to stop there
  • A dry reading can be real, as with a tiny portion, or can be the sensor, and one clean test tells us which way to look.
  • We then check the circuit if the code persists.
  • We give the price in writing first.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E-44E-44 questions
Does a small portion cause E-44?

It can. Very little food gives off little vapor and reads as dry. Try a bigger portion on a flat dish before assuming a repair is needed.

Is this the same as E-14?

It is a close relative. E-14 is the dry-up reading on the gas sensor and E-44 is the same condition on the easy sensor, so the two sit in the same family.

Should I keep trying the program?

Once or twice with proper food is fine. If it keeps stopping, switch to timed cooking and ask us to look at the sensor circuit.
