What E-23 means
Samsung US microwaves show E-23 for a T1 max time error on the temperature side. After a heating mode starts, the control expects the temperature to move within a first timing stage, called T1. If the reading does not change in that time, the oven stops and displays E-23 instead of continuing the cook. Nothing about the food or the dish is wrong, and the stop is the control being careful rather than a sign of damage.
Common causes of E-23
- Temperature that did not rise within the first timing stage
- A sensor circuit that is slow to respond or poorly connected
- A heating circuit that did not turn on when called
1. Take power off the oven at the plug or breaker and let any moisture dry. 2. Wait a full 60 seconds, then switch power on. 3. Start a short grill or convection run with nothing inside, and watch the display. 4. A second E-23 means you should request service.
- The timeout tells us the reading did not move, but it does not say whether the sensor or the heating side is to blame.
- We check both the sensor circuit and the heating path so one is not blamed for the other.
- Written pricing comes first, with a 30-day workmanship warranty on the work.
Other Microwave codes
Is E-23 the same as E-13?
They share the T1 timing idea, but E-13 is about the vapor sensor and E-23 is about temperature. The oven shows a different code so we know which circuit to examine.
Why does it stop instead of just running longer?
A control that waits forever for a reading that never comes could overheat the cavity. Stopping and showing a code is the oven protecting itself.
Can I use microwave mode meanwhile?
Often yes, since that mode does not depend on the temperature reading. If it behaves normally, use it carefully and skip grill or convection until we have checked the circuit.
