What E-02 / E-03 / E-04 / E-05 means
On Samsung US microwaves, this group of four codes reports a cooking time setting over error, and the last digit tells you which cooking mode was running. E-02 is plain microwave cooking, E-03 is grill, E-04 is convection and E-05 is combination. The oven refuses or stops the program because the time entered went past what the control accepts for that mode, and the display shows the code instead of counting down.
Common causes of E-02 / E-03 / E-04 / E-05
- A time entered that is longer than the selected mode allows
- A pad press that registered twice while setting the time
- A control that kept an old entry after a power interruption
1. Press Stop/Clear and note which of the four codes was shown, since the last digit names the mode. 2. Pull the plug or switch the breaker off. Moisture inside the oven or control area needs time to dry first. 3. With no moisture involved, give it 60 seconds and then power it up. 4. Enter a shorter time for the same mode and start again. 5. Should the code come back, request service.
- A code that returns with a normal short time entry points past the setting itself, and the entry is only half of what we check.
- Only the code tells us the mode, so we confirm which of the cooking modes your model actually has before testing.
- We state the price in writing before any work, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Microwave codes
Why are there four codes on one page?
They are one error reported per cooking mode. E-02 belongs to microwave, E-03 to grill, E-04 to convection and E-05 to combination, so models without those extra modes show only some of them.
Is the oven safe to use after this code?
It is not heating while the code shows, so nothing is at risk. Clear it, run the power reset, and try a normal short time. If it keeps returning, leave the oven off until we have looked.
Does a power reset erase my settings?
It usually clears the clock and any saved programs, which you can set again. That is a small price compared with a code that blocks every cooking attempt.
