What dC3 means
On Samsung DW80R and DW80T series dishwashers with auto door open, including the DW80T5040US, dC3 is a check code. The auto door open device operated, but the control did not sense the door actually opening, and it retried 3 times. The result is a door that stays shut at the end of a cycle, with the code showing. Samsung washers also use dC3, but there it refers to the Add Door, which is a different thing.
Common causes of dC3
- Something holding the door shut, such as a tight seal or a blocked gap
- Auto door open device not pushing out
- Door opening sensing not registering the movement
1. Open the door by hand and check that nothing is jammed in the gap. 2. Make sure the dishwasher is level and not pressed against a cabinet. 3. Close the door and start a short cycle. 4. See whether the door pops open at the end. 5. If dC3 returns, call us.
- A hand-opened door does not show whether the opener or the sensing is responsible.
- We test the opener and the door position reading separately.
- We agree on a written price first, and our workmanship is warranted for 30 days.
Other Dishwasher codes
Does dC3 stop the dishwasher from cleaning?
Usually not. It concerns the door opening after the cycle. Still, the door should be opened by hand until it is fixed, so the dishes can dry.
Is this the same as dC3 on a Samsung washer?
No. On the washer it refers to the Add Door. On a dishwasher it is the auto door open feature, so the checks are different.
Can I just open the door myself?
Yes, that is safe. We would still look at the opener before it stops working entirely. Leave the door open afterward so the tub can dry fully and stay fresh.
Still unsure about dC3?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
