What Blinking: Normal, Heavy + Express 60 means
On Samsung dishwashers without a digital display, Normal, Heavy and Express 60 blinking together mean the thermistor is short-circuited. The thermistor is the temperature sensor, and a short makes it send a reading that cannot be real. The lights can be named differently on your model. The control stops the cycle because it cannot judge how warm the water is. Dishes may come out cool, or the cycle may end early.
Common causes of Blinking: Normal, Heavy + Express 60
- Thermistor shorted internally
- Wiring or connector shorted at the sensor
- Whether the blinking comes back after a reset
1. Turn the dishwasher off and switch the breaker off for 30 seconds. 2. Switch it back on. 3. Empty the dishwasher and fill the detergent drawer. 4. Run a Normal cycle. 5. If the lights blink again, leave it off and call us. Mention the three lights you saw blinking.
- A reset cannot tell us whether the sensor or its wiring is shorted.
- We test the sensor and its connection before replacing a part.
- Any repair is priced in writing in advance and covered by our 30-day warranty.

What does short-circuited mean for the sensor?
The sensor is passing signal in a way it should not, so the reading is meaningless. We test it directly. Because of that, the control stops rather than guess the temperature.
Is this the same as Normal plus Heavy alone?
No. That pair says the thermistor is not operating correctly. Adding Express 60 points to a short. We confirm which one applies by testing the sensor, not by the lights alone.
Should I try again?
One reset is fine. If the lights return, do not keep running it. Repeated tries will not clear a real short in the sensor. It saves both water and time while we get to the cause.
