What bC2 means
On Samsung DW80R and DW80T series dishwashers, including the DW80T5040US, bC2 is a check code meaning a button was pressed and held for 30 seconds or longer. The control treats that as a stuck key instead of a normal press. It is a diagnostic code that appears only on some units, often through a recall display. In daily use it points to a key that is sticking, wet or pressed down by something.
Common causes of bC2
- A touch key reading pressed after you let go
- Moisture or residue around the control panel
- A key or membrane that has stopped releasing
1. Turn the dishwasher off. 2. Wipe the control panel dry with a soft cloth. 3. Make sure nothing is leaning on the keys. 4. Turn the dishwasher on and press each key once. 5. If bC2 returns, call us.
- If it comes back on a clean, dry panel, the key itself needs testing.
- We check which key is reading pressed and whether the panel connection is sound.
- Any repair is priced in writing ahead of time, with a 30-day warranty on our labor.

How is bC2 different from bC3?
bC2 is a button held down for 30 seconds or more. bC3 is a communication loss between the touch chip and the buttons. They sound alike, but we test them differently.
Can wet hands cause bC2?
Moisture on the panel can mimic a held key. Dry it thoroughly and restart before assuming a repair is needed. Dry the whole panel, including the edges where moisture hides.
Will I see bC2 on my screen?
Only some units display it. Others hold it as a stored check code that we can read. Our technician can read the code history and see which key was involved.
Still unsure about bC2?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
