What E-34 means
A heavy reading is what E-34 reports on Samsung US microwaves with weight-based cooking: an over weight error. The oven believes the load is more than it can handle for the program, or the weighing circuit is reading higher than the real load. Cooking does not start and the code remains on the display until you clear it, so a meal you were counting on stays uncooked.
Common causes of E-34
- A dish or load heavier than the program allows
- Something resting on the turntable or leaning against the cavity wall
- A weighing circuit reading above its normal range
1. Take everything out, dish included, and check that nothing leans on the walls or catches the turntable. 2. Cut power, plug or breaker, and let moisture dry. 3. Count 60 seconds, then power on. 4. Try again with a smaller portion in a lighter dish. 5. An E-34 that returns means you should request service.
- A heavy dish or a snagged turntable mimics a bad weighing circuit, so those checks come first.
- If the empty oven still reads heavy, the weighing circuit is what we test.
- The price is given in writing before work.
Other Microwave codes
Can a heavy dish trigger E-34?
Yes. A large or heavy container can push the reading over the limit. Try a lighter dish with less food before anything else, and spread it out so the dish sits flat in the middle.
What if the oven is empty and E-34 shows?
An empty oven that reads heavy points to a weighing circuit or to something blocking the turntable. Check the turntable moves freely by hand, with the door open, and request service if the code stays.
Is it the opposite of E-33?
Yes, E-33 reads too light and E-34 reads too heavy. Both come from the weight system, but the checks differ, so keep track of which one your display shows.
Still seeing E-34?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
