What E-33 means

Samsung US microwaves that cook by weight show E-33 as an under weight error. The oven reads the load as lighter than it can work with, so it will not start the program. Think of a very small portion, an empty cavity, or a weighing circuit giving a value below its working range. The display shows the code and the cycle does not begin.

Common causes of E-33

  • A load too light for the weight program
  • An empty cavity or a plate placed in a way the oven cannot weigh
  • A weighing circuit reading below its normal range
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Put a normal portion of food on a flat dish in the center of the oven. 2. Disconnect power at the breaker or plug and let any moisture dry. 3. Restore power after 60 seconds. 4. Start the weight program again with that portion. 5. If E-33 shows again, request service.

! Why to stop there
  • A light load and a weighing circuit that reads low look the same on screen, so we check with known weights.
  • Only then can we say whether the oven or the load is the cause.
  • We state the price in writing first.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E-33E-33 questions
What does under weight mean?

The oven read less weight than it needs to run the chosen program. It can be a true light load or a weighing circuit reporting too little, and the test with a proper portion tells which.

Why does a clean reset matter?

A reset clears a stored reading that may be stuck. Trying a normal portion afterward shows whether the code was about the load or about the weighing circuit.

Can I cook by time instead?

Yes. Time-based cooking does not depend on weighing, so a normal timed cycle usually still works if the oven is otherwise healthy. Test it with a cup of water first.
