What E-14 means

On Samsung US microwaves with sensor cooking, E-14 reports a dry up or no load gas sensor error. The oven read the vapor sensor as though the cavity were dry or empty, which does not match a cook that is supposed to have food inside. The display shows the code and the sensor program ends before the food is done.

Common causes of E-14

  • A sensor reading that looks like an empty or dried cavity
  • A cooking attempt started with no food or a very small load
  • A sensor circuit that is not reporting vapor correctly
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Check that real food is in the oven, because an empty run can give this code. 2. Remove power at the breaker or plug and let moisture dry. 3. After 60 seconds, restore power. 4. Try a sensor program with a normal portion. 5. Seeing E-14 again means we should be called to request service.

! Why to stop there
  • An empty cavity and a weak sensor can look the same to the control, so one clean test with food is the first step.
  • If the code stays, we measure how the sensor circuit responds instead of swapping parts.
  • We tell you the price before any work and cover the repair with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E-14E-14 questions
Can running it empty cause E-14?

Yes, an empty or nearly empty cavity can look like a dried-out load to the sensor. Test again with a cup of water or a normal portion of food before assuming a repair is needed.

Why would the sensor report dry food?

The sensor tracks vapor, so little or no vapor reads as dry. A tiny serving can do that, and so can a sensor that stopped reporting vapor even though food is cooking.

Should I stop using sensor programs?

If E-14 returns with proper food, use manual timing until we check it. That keeps dinner moving without leaning on a sensor the control has already flagged.
