What -dE- / -dC- means
On Samsung ranges and wall ovens in the US with a Flex Duo or Twin mode partition, -dE- or -dC- means the partition is not installed properly. The message also shows if cooking was started before the partition was put in. The owner sees -dE- or -dC- and the oven will not run in the selected mode. It points to the placement of the divider or the switch that detects it, not to a heating failure.
Common causes of -dE- / -dC-
- Partition not pushed fully into its slot
- Cooking started before the partition was inserted
- Partition in the wrong slot position
- Something pressing the partition switch at the back of the oven
1. Switch the oven off and let the cavity cool down. 2. Insert the partition fully. It belongs in the third slot from the top on electric and dual fuel ranges, and in the fourth slot on gas ranges. 3. If the partition is out of the oven, check that nothing presses on the partition switch at the back. 4. Restart the cycle.
- A message that stays with the partition correctly placed leads us to the partition switch and its wiring
- We check that the switch moves freely and reports the right state
- We put the price in writing for you to approve, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship guarantee

Which slot does the partition use?
On electric and dual fuel models, it goes in the third slot from the top. On gas models, it goes in the fourth slot. Push it all the way in so it seats.
Why does the message appear when the partition is out of the oven?
Something may be pressing the partition switch at the back of the cavity, making the control think a partition is present. Check that area is clear, with the oven cool.
Can I start cooking and add the partition afterward?
No. Starting a cycle before the partition is in is one reason the message shows. Put the partition in first, then begin cooking. Putting the partition in first avoids the message.
