What C-10 means

On Samsung ranges and wall ovens in the US, C-10 can show up when a self diagnosis is run through the SmartThings app. It should not appear during regular cooking. If the oven starts out very cold or very hot, the test can report C-10 because of a temperature sensor limitation, and that reading can be ignored when the oven heats normally. The owner is concerned only when C-10 appears by itself in the middle of a cooking cycle.

Common causes of C-10

  • Self-diagnosis run while the oven cavity was very cold or very hot
  • Sensor reading outside the test range at the start of the check
  • Control that needs a reset after a one-time reading
  • Oven temperature sensor circuit, only if C-10 repeats during cooking
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Think about whether you just ran a self diagnosis in the SmartThings app. If so, and the oven heats normally, ignore C-10. 2. If C-10 appeared by itself during cooking, reset the oven following the steps in your use and care guide. 3. Let the oven cool, then run a normal preheat and watch whether the code comes back.

! Why to stop there
  • A C-10 that returns during ordinary cooking, not only after a test, is the case that needs real testing
  • We check the temperature sensor circuit and compare actual heat to the oven setting
  • The written quote comes ahead of any work, and a 30-day workmanship warranty follows the repair
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
C-10C-10 questions
Is C-10 a real problem if my oven heats normally?

Not if it appeared after a self diagnosis. The test can report it when the oven begins very cold or very hot, and that reading is safe to ignore as long as heating is normal.

Why did C-10 show up on its own?

If it appears during cooking without any test, a reset is the first step. A repeat means the temperature sensing circuit deserves a closer look, and we can test it.

Will the oven cook correctly with C-10 on the screen?

If it still reaches and holds temperature, yes. Check with an oven thermometer if you doubt it, and call us if results are uneven or the code keeps returning.
