C-24 on a Samsung range or wall oven in the US means the temperature sensor has detected the oven temperature rising faster than the normal rate. The usual reason is a blocked or partly blocked vent at the back of the cooktop, which keeps heat from escaping the way it should. The owner sees C-24 on the display, and the oven may shut down the cycle. Clearing whatever covers the vent is the first thing to try.

Common causes of C-24

  • Vent at the back of the cooktop covered or partly blocked
  • Cookware, foil or a pan lid sitting over the vent
  • Oven temperature sensor reading higher than actual
  • Heat build-up from door left shut during a very hot cycle

1. Turn the oven off and let it cool. 2. Remove anything covering the vent at the back of the cooktop. 3. When cooking again, open and close the door a few times, about 3 seconds each, while the oven is on. 4. Alternatively, turn the oven off and leave the door open for 1 minute. 5. Never cover the vent with foil or pans.
