What OC / OE means
Samsung washers with a digital display, front-load and top-load, show OE, 0E, OC, or 0C when the control detects too much water in the washer. The cycle stops, and the washer may try to drain. The listing names no models, so this applies to Samsung washers with a numeric display. Because water level is the concern, treat it seriously: a washer holding extra water can leak or run into the cabinet.
Common causes of OC / OE
- Water level sensing reading high
- Inlet valve letting water in when it should be closed
- Drain pump and drain hose restriction
- Water level sensor hose or connection
1. Turn the washer off and close both water supply valves. 2. Check the drain hose for kinks or clogs. 3. Turn the washer on and let it drain, or run a drain or spin option if available. 4. If water stays in the tub or OE returns, stop using the washer and request service.
- A tub that drains normally after the checks but still shows OE points to the level reading or the inlet valve.
- We test the level sensor and the inlet valve shutoff.
- If water reached the cabinet or floor, keep the washer unplugged until it has been inspected.
Other Washer codes
Why does my washer say OE but the tub looks fine?
The control reads the water level through a sensor. If the reading says too high while the tub looks normal, the sensor or its connection is worth testing.
Should I shut off the water?
Yes. Closing both supply valves stops more water entering while you check the drain hose and let the tub empty. Also keep the washer unplugged if any water has reached the floor or the cabinet.
Do OC and OE differ?
They are listed together as the overflow group, with 0C and 0E as other ways the display can show the letters. We treat them as the same condition.
