What bE / 6E means

Samsung washers with a digital display, front-load and top-load, show bE or 6E when the control cannot read a good signal from the motor speed sensor. The control watches how fast the drum is turning, and without that reading it stops the cycle. This is a different condition from bE2 or 6E2, which are listed for a stuck button. The listing names no models, so it applies to Samsung washers with a numeric display.

Common causes of bE / 6E

  • Motor speed sensor signal
  • Sensor wiring and connector at the motor
  • Motor and drum drag under load
  • Main board input for the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Shut the washer off and give it a few minutes. 2. Power it up and run the cycle again. 3. Remove part of the load, since a heavy or lopsided load can make the drum hard to turn. 4. If bE or 6E comes back, schedule a visit and stop using the washer.

! Why to stop there
  • A restart cannot show whether the sensor, its wiring, or the motor is the cause.
  • We check the sensor connector and wiring at the motor and test the signal while the drum turns.
  • We separate this from the button code before anything is quoted.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
bE / 6EbE / 6E questions
Is bE the same as bE2?

No. bE and 6E point to the motor speed sensor, while bE2 and 6E2 are listed for a button that reads as stuck. Reading the exact characters on the display matters.

Can a heavy load cause bE?

A very heavy load can make the drum hard to turn, which may disturb the speed reading. Try a lighter load once, and call us if the code repeats.

Does the motor need replacing?

Not necessarily. The code points to the speed sensor signal, which can be a connection issue as well as a part. We test before recommending a replacement.
