What 7E means

On Samsung washers with a digital display and SilverCare, 7E is named the SilverCare error. SilverCare is the system that adds silver ions to the wash water, and the code appears when the control finds a problem in that function. The washer may still be able to run cycles without it. You will see 7E on the display and the SilverCare function may be unavailable.

Common causes of 7E

  • SilverCare module circuit
  • Wiring to the SilverCare unit
  • Main board input
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Shut the washer off and wait two to three minutes before powering up. 2. Turn it on and run a normal cycle without SilverCare. 3. Do not open any panels or touch wiring. 4. Note whether 7E returns each time you select SilverCare. 5. Call us if it returns.

! Why to stop there
  • After a restart, we cannot tell whether the SilverCare unit, its wiring or the board is behind 7E.
  • We test the SilverCare circuit and its connection before recommending a part.
  • A written price precedes any SilverCare repair, and our workmanship is backed for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
7E7E questions
Is 7E serious?

Not for basic washing. It concerns the SilverCare function. Many cycles can still run, but the function may not work until it is checked. Normal washing and rinsing do not depend on SilverCare, so a restart and a normal cycle are a reasonable check.

Does every washer have SilverCare?

No. Only models with that feature can show 7E. If your washer has no SilverCare, the code points to a different issue we should review. Look at the control panel for a SilverCare label, and send us a photo if you are not sure.

Can I just ignore 7E?

You can keep washing, but we suggest having it checked so the code does not hide another problem. Having it looked at also lets us confirm that the rest of the control is healthy, and that takes little time.
