What 4C2 / 4E2 / CE / nF1 means
On Samsung washers with a digital display, front-load and top-load, 4C2, 4E2, CE, 14C2 and nF1 form a hot and cold error. The water from the cold supply is extremely hot because the hot and cold hoses are swapped. The brand notes that this code does not mean service is needed. You will see the code and the cycle will not go on. Some courses such as Wool or Lingerie can also trigger it when water is too hot.
Common causes of 4C2 / 4E2 / CE / nF1
- Hot and cold hoses connected the wrong way
- Hot water reaching the cold valve
- Water too hot for a delicate course
1. Turn off both water valves. 2. Unscrew the hoses and check the colors: blue to blue and red to red. 3. Connect the cold supply to the cold inlet and the hot supply to the hot inlet. 4. Open the valves and check for leaks at the connections. 5. Restart the cycle.
- If the hoses are right and the code stays, we cannot tell whether the inlet valves or a temperature sensor is behind it.
- We check the temperature at each supply line, then the valves and sensor.
- If it turns out to need a repair, the written price comes first and 30 days of warranty follow.
Other Washer codes
Does this code mean the washer needs a repair?
Usually not. It points to hose connections. Swap them to the right inlets, and the code should clear. A quick look at the hose connections takes only a few minutes and costs nothing.
How do I know which hose is hot?
Hot hoses are usually marked in red and cold in blue, at both the valve and the washer inlet. If they are not marked, run the faucet to find the hot line.
What if the connection is right?
Then the issue may be the valve or sensor. We test them and give you a written price first. The cold line may also be running warm from a shared pipe, so we check the supply temperature too.
