What AC / AE / Et means

These codes appear on Samsung dryers with a digital display, including the DV45H series that shows AE and EEE. They are communication errors: the internal parts of the dryer cannot talk to each other. The dryer stops the cycle and shows the code. The DV45H manual separately defines EEE as an invalid EEPROM communication, which is a narrower case than the general group that EEE is listed with in the US error list.

Common causes of AC / AE / Et

  • A loose or damaged connection between the main control and the panel
  • The main control board or the display board not answering
  • A power interruption that left one board out of step

1. Turn the dryer off at the panel. 2. Unplug it or switch off its breaker for 60 seconds. 3. Restore power and restart a cycle. 4. If the code returns on the next cycle, stop using the dryer and leave it unplugged.

Why does my dryer show AE or AC?

AE is one of the communication errors, along with AC and Et. It tells you the control boards inside the dryer could not exchange information, so the cycle stopped.

Is EEE the same as AE?

EEE is grouped with the communication errors, but the DV45H manual defines it as an invalid EEPROM communication. That points at the memory on the control, so we test it a little differently.

Will shutting the dryer off for 60 seconds fix it?

Often a short power-off clears a one-time glitch, and it costs nothing to try. If the code comes back, a connection or a board needs testing.
