What 1 HC / 1 FC / 1 AC means
These codes appear on Samsung dryers where the display adds a 1 and a space before the usual letters. Each is a variant of a more familiar error: 1 HC is a heating error variant, 1 FC is a frequency error variant, and 1 AC is a communication variant. They tell us which circuit the dryer is reporting, but not which part inside it needs work. The dryer may stop, not heat, or not start at all.
Common causes of 1 HC / 1 FC / 1 AC
- Heating circuit and its sensor for 1 HC
- Frequency or motor control reading for 1 FC
- Control board communication for 1 AC
- Connectors between the boards
1. Turn the dryer off, unplug it, and wait a few minutes. 2. Clean the lint screen and check the vent for blockage or kinks. 3. Plug the dryer back in and run a short cycle with a small load. 4. Write down exactly which of the three codes appears. 5. If it returns, stop using the dryer and tell us which one.
- The letters tell us the circuit, not the part that needs work.
- We read which code is on the display and test that circuit on the machine.
- The price is given in writing before work begins, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Dryer codes
What does the 1 in front of HC mean?
On these Samsung dryers it is a variant of the heating code. The display shows the 1 and a space, and we match it to the circuit it points to.
Do 1 HC, 1 FC and 1 AC need the same repair?
No. They point to different circuits, namely heating, frequency and communication, so each one is checked separately on the machine and nothing is assumed from the others.
Can I run the dryer with one of these codes?
We would not. Stop using it until we have checked the circuit, especially if the code comes with a heating problem or the dryer will not start at all.
Still seeing 1 HC / 1 FC / 1 AC?
