What Blinking: Auto + Heavy / Heavy + Quick / Smart Auto + Heavy / Heavy (models with Express 60) means
On Samsung dishwashers without a digital display, a pair of blinking cycle lights that includes Heavy reports an overflow: too much water. The combinations are Auto with Heavy, Heavy with Quick, Smart Auto with Heavy, or Heavy by itself on models that have Express 60. The control senses a level above what it allows and stops the cycle. You may find water high in the tub, or water on the floor around the dishwasher.
Common causes of Blinking: Auto + Heavy / Heavy + Quick / Smart Auto + Heavy / Heavy (models with Express 60)
- Water level sensing reading too high
- Fill valve letting water in when it should not
- A leak that pools in the base
- Drain path holding water back
1. Turn the dishwasher off and close the shutoff valve under the sink. 2. Look for water on the floor and wipe it up. 3. Check that the drain hose under the sink is not kinked. 4. Leave the door open for a while so the tub can drain. 5. Call us before running another cycle.
- Stopping the water does not tell us whether the level reading or the fill valve is wrong.
- We check for a leak and for a valve that stays open.
- You approve a written price before we proceed, and our work carries 30 days of coverage.

Why does Heavy appear in so many combinations?
The exact lights depend on the model. What matters is that Heavy blinks together with another light on models that have Express 60. Check your model label if you are unsure which lights apply.
Should I keep using the dishwasher?
No. Too much water can spill onto your floor, so shut off the supply and have it checked. Any puddle on the floor is worth wiping up right away.
Could it be a drain problem?
It can be. If the water cannot leave, the level rises, so we check the drain path alongside the fill system. A kinked hose is a common example, and easy to check.
