What AC / AC6 means

On Samsung DW80R and DW80T series dishwashers, including the DW80T5040US, DW80R5061US and DW80R5060US, AC is a communication check code. It appears when the main board and the sub board lose contact for 24 seconds, or 6 seconds in test mode. AC6 is the related code for the inverter board: no response for 3 seconds, after which the inverter relay switches off for 2 minutes and the code shows after 3 repeats. Owners see the cycle stop and the display or keys act strangely.

Common causes of AC / AC6

  • Main board and sub board communication
  • Inverter board response
  • Board connections and wiring
  • Whether the code returns after a power-off
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Turn the dishwasher off. 2. Switch the breaker off for a minute, then back on. 3. Make sure the door is closed and latched. 4. Start a short cycle and see whether the code returns. 5. If it does, leave the dishwasher off and call us. Do not remove any panels.

! Why to stop there
  • A reset does not show which board link dropped or why.
  • We separate a main-to-sub link problem from an inverter response problem.
  • We quote in writing before touching the dishwasher, and stand behind the work for 30 days.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
AC / AC6AC / AC6 questions
What is the difference between AC and AC6?

AC is the main board and sub board losing contact. AC6 is the inverter board not answering. We note which you see so we start at the right board.

Is this the same as bC3?

No. bC3 is the touch chip on the sub board losing contact with the buttons. AC is the boards talking to each other, and we look at them in a different order.

Will resetting the breaker fix it?

Sometimes, if the link only dropped briefly. A code that comes back after a reset means the link itself needs testing. We start with the board link the code names, not with a guess.
