What PC means

PC appears on Samsung dishwashers with a digital display and a Zone Wash feature, such as the DW80T5040US. It is a Zone Wash error: the function that sends spray to one area of the tub is not operating correctly. The control expects the position of the Zone Wash mechanism to be detected shortly after its motor runs, and when that does not happen it stops and shows PC. You may see the code partway through a cycle or at start.

Common causes of PC

  • A wiring or connector issue between the control and the Zone Wash motor

1. Turn the dishwasher off, wait a moment, and turn it back on to restart. 2. Open the door and check that no dish, utensil, or label is blocking the spray arms. 3. Spin the spray arms by hand and make sure they turn freely. 4. Reload so nothing sticks out of the baskets, then run a cycle. 5. If PC returns, stop using the dishwasher.

What is Zone Wash on a Samsung dishwasher?

It lets you direct the spray to part of the tub, such as the upper or lower rack. PC means the dishwasher could not confirm that mechanism was working, so it stopped the cycle.

Will turning the dishwasher off and on fix PC?

Sometimes a restart clears it, and that is the first step. If PC comes back on the next cycle, something is stopping the Zone Wash from reporting its position and it needs to be tested.

Can I run a cycle without Zone Wash?

If the code keeps appearing, the dishwasher may not finish cycles. We would rather check it than have you keep restarting, because a stuck mechanism can leave dishes dirty.
