What 7E means
On Samsung US dishwashers with a digital display and the WaterWall spray system, 7E means the reflector is not able to move correctly. The reflector is the part that sweeps the wall of water across the dishes. The same condition can also appear as 7C. Because it applies only to WaterWall models, a Rotary dishwasher will not show it. You will see the code on the display and the cycle stops, often with dishes left unwashed on one side.
Common causes of 7E
- Something blocking the reflector's travel, such as packing tape or a stray utensil
- The reflector sitting in the wrong orientation
- The reflector drive and its position reading
1. Open the door and look for anything blocking the reflector, including leftover packing tape from delivery. 2. Check that the reflector sits in its correct orientation. 3. Switch the breaker off for 2 minutes, then back on. 4. Run a short cycle and watch whether 7E returns. 5. If it does, stop and call us.
- Clearing a blockage does not prove the reflector drive is healthy.
- We test the movement and its position reading to see which part is not following instructions.
- Work begins only after you approve a written price, and it is warranted for 30 days.

What is the reflector?
It is the moving panel in a WaterWall dishwasher that directs the spray across the racks. If it cannot travel, the control stops the cycle and shows 7E or 7C.
Could packing material cause this on a new dishwasher?
Yes. Tape or foam left from delivery can block the reflector, so check for it before anything else. Look along the reflector's track and the back wall of the tub.
Does a 2-minute power-off always work?
It helps when the reflector only lost its position. If 7E returns after a clear path and a reset, the drive needs testing. Without that reset, the reflector may not learn its home position again.
Still seeing 7E?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
