What 4C / 4E means

On Samsung US dishwashers with a digital display, 4C and 4E report a water supply error. The dishwasher is not getting water at the pressure or temperature it needs, so the cycle stops and the code stays on the display. On the DW80T5040US the 4C reading is based on counting fill pulses: too few in 20 seconds, or the target level not reached within 60 minutes. Owners usually find the tub nearly dry or only partly filled when the code appears.

1. Confirm the shutoff valve under the sink is open all the way. 2. Check the fill line for kinks or pinching behind the dishwasher. 3. Run the kitchen faucet to confirm normal water pressure. 4. Confirm the supply is neither too cold nor too hot. 5. Restart the dishwasher and start a new cycle.

Is 4C different from 4E?

My faucet pressure is fine. Why 4C?

The dishwasher counts how fast water arrives. A partly clogged inlet or a weak valve can fall short even when the faucet looks fine, so we test the inlet path.

Can a closed shutoff valve cause this?

Yes, and it is the first thing to check. A valve that is only partly open can trigger it too. Open it all the way, restart, and see whether the code returns.
