What tS / tC / tE / tO means
On Samsung dryers with a digital display, including the DV45H series that shows tE, these codes are temperature errors. They point to an issue with the temperature or with the sensors that read it, and a clogged lint screen or vent is the most common cause. The DV45H lists tE as a thermistor resistance that is very low or very high. On some displays a lowercase t looks like an upside-down F.
Common causes of tS / tC / tE / tO
- A lint screen or exhaust vent that is clogged
- A temperature sensor reading very high or very low
- A loose connection at the sensor
- The heating circuit not behaving as the control expects
1. Turn the dryer off and let it cool. 2. Clean the lint screen and the slot it sits in. 3. Check the vent hose for kinks and clear the outside vent hood. 4. Run a cycle again. 5. If the code continues, stop using the dryer.
- A clean vent that still gives a temperature code points away from airflow and toward the sensor or its wiring.
- We compare the sensor's reading with the real temperature and check the connection.
- We provide a written price first, and our repair is covered for 30 days.

What does tE mean on a Samsung dryer?
On the DV45H series, tE means the thermistor resistance is very low or very high. The thermistor is the sensor that reads temperature, so the control cannot trust its reading.
Why does the display look like it says F?
On some panels a lowercase t is drawn like an upside-down F. If you see what looks like an upside-down F followed by a letter, read it as t.
Can a dirty vent cause a temperature code?
Yes, it is the most common cause. Heat builds up when air cannot leave, and the sensors report it. Clean the vent first, then see whether the code returns.
