What does dE mean on a Samsung dryer?

On the DV45H series it means the dryer was running with the door open. The control saw the door open during a cycle and stopped, which is a protective response.

Is df the same as dE?

No. On the DV45H, df is an invalid door state, while dE is the running-with-door-open case. Both belong to the door group, and the first checks are the same.

Why does the dryer show a door code with the door shut?

The latch or switch may not be registering the closed door. Debris, a worn catch, or a loose connection can cause it. We test the switch to find out which.
