What Ct means
Ct appears on Samsung dryers with a digital display during the Vent Blockage test. It means the dryer is below freezing or above 104 degrees F, which is outside the range where the test can read correctly. The dryer is not broken. The test needs the dryer at normal room temperature. You will see Ct when you start the test in a cold garage or a very hot space.
Common causes of Ct
- A dryer kept in an unheated garage, porch, or cold room
- A very hot laundry area that pushes the dryer past 104 degrees F
- A dryer just moved in from a cold truck or storage
1. Leave the dryer and the door closed at room temperature for one hour. 2. If the room is hot, let it cool first. 3. Run the Vent Blockage test again. 4. If Ct stays after the room is comfortable, stop and have it checked.
- If Ct persists at room temperature, the dryer may be reading the temperature wrongly.
- We compare the dryer's reading with the actual air temperature around it.
- We quote in writing first, and our repairs carry a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Dryer codes
Why does my dryer show Ct?
It is telling you the dryer is too cold or too hot for the Vent Blockage test, below freezing or above 104 degrees F. It is a condition to wait out, not a failure.
How long should I wait before retrying?
Let the dryer sit at room temperature for about one hour, then run the test again. That gives the cabinet and the sensor time to reach a normal range.
Does Ct mean my vent is blocked?
No. Ct only says the test could not run. Once the dryer is at a normal temperature, the test can run and tell you whether the vent is clear or needs cleaning.
Still unsure about Ct?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
