What C80 / C8 means
C80 or C8 is a result from the Vent Blockage test on Samsung dryers with a digital display. It reports that about 80 percent of the vent is clogged. The dryer finished the test and is telling you airflow is badly restricted. Some displays list the same result as C8o. You will see the code after running the test, and drying times are probably long as well.
Common causes of C80 / C8
- Lint packed in the exhaust vent duct
- A crushed or kinked vent hose behind the dryer
- A clogged lint filter
- An outside vent hood that is blocked or not opening
1. Turn the dryer off and unplug it. 2. Clean the lint filter and the slot it sits in. 3. Pull the dryer forward and check the vent hose for kinks or crushing, and disconnect it to clear lint. 4. Clean the vent duct and the outside hood. 5. Reconnect everything and run the Vent Blockage test again.
- A vent can look clear from the dryer side and still be packed further along its run.
- We check airflow at the dryer and at the hood, and look at the route of the ductwork.
- You get a written price first, with a 30-day workmanship warranty on any repair.
Other Dryer codes
How blocked is the vent when C80 shows?
It means the Vent Blockage test found about 80 percent of the vent clogged. The dryer is working, but airflow is poor and it will dry slowly.
Do C8 and C80 differ?
Yes. The display may show C80 or C8 for the same result. A worse blockage, over 90 percent, is reported as C90 or C9 instead, so a more serious restriction would show that pair.
Can a clogged vent be dangerous?
Restricted venting makes the dryer run hot and is a fire concern, so cleaning the vent is worth doing promptly. We can inspect the full duct run if you cannot reach it.
