What E-13 means

Code E-13 on Samsung US microwaves is listed as a T1 max time gas sensor error. During a sensor cook, the oven waits for the vapor sensor to show a change, and T1 is the first timing stage of that wait. When the sensor does not respond inside the allowed maximum, the control stops the program and shows E-13 instead of finishing the cycle.

Common causes of E-13

  • A sensor signal that never changed within the first timing stage
  • A sensor circuit with a weak connection
  • Food or a covered dish that held vapor away from the sensor
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Look at the dish first: if the lid is sealed tight, steam cannot reach the sensor. 2. Disconnect power at the plug or breaker, and let moisture dry. 3. A 60 second pause is next, followed by power on. 4. Run the sensor program again with a loosely covered dish. 5. Still seeing E-13 with a normal dish? Request service.

! Why to stop there
  • A timeout can come from how the food was loaded or from the sensor itself, and the first reset does not separate the two.
  • We read how the oven behaves across several sensor programs.
  • The price is given in writing before work starts.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
E-13E-13 questions
What does T1 mean?

T1 is the first timing stage the oven allows for the sensor to detect cooking vapor. The code tells us that stage ran out of time, not that a particular part is broken.

Could my dish cause E-13?

A tightly sealed container can keep vapor from reaching the sensor, so it is worth trying a loosely covered dish. If a normal setup still gives the code, the cause is in the oven.

Will manual cooking still work?

Often it does, since manual cooking does not wait for the sensor. If a timed cook runs normally, you can use that mode while the sensor side waits for a check.
