What C1 / CL1 means
C1 or CL1 shows on Samsung dryers with a digital display and a Vent Blockage test. It means the dryer detected laundry inside the drum when the test was started, and the test cannot run with clothes in it. The dryer is not broken in that case. Take the laundry out and try the test again. If the code appears with the drum empty, the dryer needs attention.
Common causes of C1 / CL1
- Laundry or an item left in the drum when the test was started
- A sensor reporting load with nothing in the drum
- A previous load remaining where it cannot be seen
1. Open the door and remove everything from the drum, including small items stuck to the wall. 2. Close the door and start the Vent Blockage test again. 3. Check around the door seal and the lint screen area for anything left behind. 4. If the code shows with the drum empty, stop and have it checked.
- If the code appears with an empty drum, the sensor or its reading is the question, and a clean drum does not answer it.
- We check what the dryer reads as load when the drum is empty.
- You receive a written price before we start, and our work carries a 30-day warranty.
Other Dryer codes
What is the difference between C1 and CL1?
Both mean the dryer found laundry in the drum during the Vent Blockage test. CL1 is not the same as CL, which is the Child Lock indicator.
Do I need a repair when C1 shows?
Usually not. If you remove the laundry and the test runs, the dryer is doing what it should. A repair is only needed if the code returns with the drum empty.
What is the Vent Blockage test?
It is a function on some Samsung dryers that checks how restricted the vent is. It needs an empty drum to read correctly, which is why laundry stops it.
