What Blinking: Heavy, Delicate + Quick / Heavy, Delicate + Smart Auto / Smart Auto, Heavy + Delicate / Heavy, Quick+ + Smart Auto means
On Samsung dishwashers without a digital display, three blinking cycle lights that include Heavy and Delicate report a temperature sensor that is failing. Typical sets are Heavy, Delicate and Quick, or Heavy, Delicate and Smart Auto, and the exact names vary by model. The control cannot trust the temperature it reads, so it stops the cycle. You may see the cycle end early, or the dishes come out poorly washed or cool.
Common causes of Blinking: Heavy, Delicate + Quick / Heavy, Delicate + Smart Auto / Smart Auto, Heavy + Delicate / Heavy, Quick+ + Smart Auto
- Temperature sensor giving an unbelievable reading
- Sensor wiring and connections
- Whether the lights return after a power reset
1. Turn the dishwasher off and switch the breaker off for 30 seconds. 2. Switch it back on. 3. Empty the dishwasher and fill the detergent drawer. 4. Run a Normal cycle. 5. If the same three lights blink, call us. Write down which three lights you saw.
- A reset does not tell us whether the sensor or its wiring is the source.
- We compare the sensor reading with the actual tub temperature.
- We quote before we begin, in writing, and back the repair for 30 days.

Why three lights instead of two?
Samsung uses different combinations on different models. Three lights that include Heavy and Delicate report the temperature sensor. Your model label tells us which names your lights use.
Does it mean the water is too hot?
Not necessarily. It says the reading cannot be trusted, which is separate from the water actually being hot or cold. We compare the sensor's reading with the real water temperature.
Can I still wash dishes by hand in the meantime?
Yes. The dishwasher is better left off until it is checked. Hand washing is the safer choice until the reading is verified. Doing the dishes by hand keeps your kitchen running until we have tested it.
