What AP means
AP on a Samsung US dishwasher with a digital display and Wi-Fi is not an error. It stands for Access Point mode, which the dishwasher enters to help you connect it to a mobile device. The display shows AP while it waits for the phone to join. This is a brand-wide message on connected models. If you did not mean to start pairing, you may have pressed the Wi-Fi or Smart Control key, and AP simply shows the setup is open.
Common causes of AP
- A Wi-Fi or Smart Control key pressed on purpose or by accident
- Pairing with the phone not finished
- Home Wi-Fi signal or password entered wrong during setup
1. Keep the phone near the dishwasher and finish the connection in the app. 2. If you did not mean to pair, leave it alone and let the display return to normal. 3. If it will not connect, turn the dishwasher off and on and try again. 4. Check that your home Wi-Fi is working and the password is correct. 5. If AP stays on with no keys pressed, call us.
- If the dishwasher keeps going back to AP, the Wi-Fi module or control may be involved.
- We check whether the keypad is registering presses you did not make.
- If a repair is needed, it is quoted in writing first and covered for 30 days.

Is AP a problem with my dishwasher?
No. It means the dishwasher is waiting to be connected to your phone. Finish the app setup or let it time out and you are back to normal use.
Why will it not connect?
Usually the home Wi-Fi password or signal is the cause. Turning the dishwasher off and on and trying again often helps. If not, the router settings are worth checking.
Does AP stop my dishwasher from washing?
It should not. If the cycle will not run while AP stays up, tell us, because then the control needs a closer look. Most often the display simply returns to normal after pairing or a restart.
Still unsure about AP?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
