What UB1 means

UB1 appears on the Samsung WD90F27 series and WD90F53AVS Laundry Combo when the control detects waterproof items in the laundry. Such items can hold water and throw the drum out of balance. The unit asks you to remove them. You will see UB1 on the display, usually just before the spin starts, and the cycle will not spin properly until the load changes.

What counts as a waterproof item?

Rain gear, bath mats with rubber backing and pet pads are common. They trap water and cannot spin evenly. Check pockets and linings as well, because a coated liner can count even when the outer fabric is not waterproof.

Can I put them back with other laundry?

Not in the same cycle. Wash them separately with a small balanced load if the care label allows. Before washing them, read the care labels, since some coated items must never go in a machine.

UB1 appears without such items. What now?

Check the load balance and leveling. If it persists, we inspect the sensing circuit and drum movement. A bunched blanket or a single heavy item can cause the same reading, so rule those out as well.
