What OC means
On the Samsung WD53DBA900H-series Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, such as the WD53DBA900HZA1, OC means overflow: the water level detection is not working, so water may be supplied continually. The cause can be a clogged drain hose, ice or foreign matter in the supply valve, or a worn water level sensor. On the dry side the code also shows when overflow is detected three times in a row. You will see OC and water may be rising.
Common causes of OC
- Water level terminal out of place
- Clogged drain hose
- Supply valve with ice or foreign matter
- Water level sensor wearing out
1. Close both water supply valves behind the unit. 2. Turn the unit off. 3. If there is a lot of water, keep the unit unplugged and mop up the floor. 4. Check the drain hose for kinks without moving the unit alone. 5. Call us before running the cycle again.
- The code tells us the level reading is wrong, but not whether the sensor, the valve or the drain path caused it.
- We test the inlet valve, the drain path and the level sensor in turn.
- Water-related repairs are quoted in writing ahead of time, and we warrant our workmanship for 30 days.

Is OC an emergency?
It can be. Water that keeps entering can overflow. Close the supply valves and turn the unit off before anything else. Shut off both supply valves behind the unit first, since that stops the inflow right away.
Can a blocked drain hose cause OC?
Yes. If water cannot leave and the level reading is off, the unit reads overflow. We check the hose along its whole route. Do not pull the unit away from the wall alone, because it is heavy and the hose may be full of water.
Why would a valve cause it?
Debris or ice can keep an inlet valve from closing fully. We inspect the valve and its screen when we diagnose the unit. A frozen valve usually shows up in cold rooms such as a garage or an enclosed porch.
Still seeing OC?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
