What 60 min or Extra Low light blinking means
On Samsung dryers without a digital display, a blinking 60 min or Extra Low light is the heating error: the dryer is getting too hot. These models use indicator lights instead of a code on a screen. The dryer shuts the heat off or stops the cycle to prevent overheating. You will see that one light blinking, and clothes may come out damp or the dryer may stop and not restart.
Common causes of 60 min or Extra Low light blinking
- A lint screen or exhaust vent that is clogged and trapping heat
- An outside vent hood that is blocked or flapping shut
- A temperature sensing circuit reading high
- A heating element or control not shutting off as it should
1. Turn the dryer off and let it cool down. 2. Clean the lint screen, including the slot it sits in. 3. Pull the dryer forward carefully and check the vent hose for kinks or crushing. 4. Go outside and make sure the vent hood opens freely and is free of lint. 5. Restart a cycle. If the light blinks again, stop using the dryer.
- Lint and vent restriction are the most common reasons for overheating, but a clean vent that still trips tells us the cause is inside the dryer.
- We check airflow at the dryer and at the hood, then test the temperature sensing and heat control.
- We give you the written price first and back the repair for 30 days.
Other Dryer codes
Is a blinking 60 min light the same as Extra Low blinking?
On these indicator-light Samsung dryers, either light blinking is listed as the heating error. The light that blinks depends on the model, and the checks are the same.
Why does the dryer get too hot?
Mostly because air cannot leave. A packed lint screen or a restricted vent traps heat, and the dryer protects itself by shutting down. If airflow is good, we look at the sensor and heat control.
Is an overheating dryer a fire risk?
Restricted venting is a known fire hazard, so we take it seriously. Clean what you can reach, keep the dryer off if it keeps tripping, and let us check it.
